Instead of chipping away at America’s sacred cows and foreign
policies, the self proclaimed guru of mocumentary filmmaking, Michael Moore has
turned his destructive approach to artistic endeavor to his idea of the root of
all evils. His attacks against the American gun culturein “Bowling for Columbine” andanti Iraq War sentiments in “Fahrenheit 9/11”
as well as diatribe against the current US health care system in “Sicko”were just the tip of the iceberg. Now he is
about to unveil his most monumental project, an attack against capitalism itself.
So far the film has no title, but in spite of that, Michael plans to release it
in the USA on 2 October and in Europe soon after. The entire plot is what
Michael terms, the corporate and political covert maneuvering which resulted in
“the biggest robbery in the history of this country”- which he identifies as
the transfer of US taxpayers’ money from the government coffers to private
financial institutions, now commonly known as “bailouts”. “Sicko” was not
exactly a box office bonanza and Michael new film may fare even worse. What was
proven by the majority of Iraq War films was that the film audiences are tired
of hearing about what they read ,see and her every day and go to the movies to
escape from such drearysubjects.
